My friend Mila came over again this week to visit Mary and I. She takes the most beautiful pictures. So she snapped some shots and I just got them in my email and thought I'd share these with everyone. Thanks Mila, I love them all so much!
Uncle Adam took some amazing shots of Mary today. We think it was the combination of Andy's black t-shirt and the natural light from the window. Oh, and Mary just posing like a little starlet.
Today Mary, A, and I drove over to DayOne (our little neighborhood baby store/center for new and expectant mothers) to take care of some baby business. First and foremost on my mind was buying a breast pump. I am scheduled to take a class on pumping on Thursday and then we will be in serious business up in the parts. A will be able to feed Mary a bottle when he gets home from work, freeing me up for a few hours in the evening. And, eventually he can feed her again once in the night and that way I can sleep solid for more than 2-3 hours at a time. (I swear the thought of a solid chunk of sleep sounds like pure ecstasy at this point). We also scheduled me for a consultation session with one of the lactation experts at the center since Mary and I haven't quite gotten this whole breastfeeding fine tuned yet. I am surprised anyone gets through this without some serious support. It has been a rough road to say the least. Nobody tells you how bad it hurts and that if you don't fix the problem immediately that it turns into this vicious cycle. But, we are surviving and little Missy is gaining weight. DayOne also has a baby scale. Today Mary weighed 8 lbs and 7 oz!!!! So, I guess she is getting what she needs.
Well, enough about my gals. Get ready for some serious cuteness.......last night Mary, A and I were watching a movie while I was holding her on the couch. I looked down when I heard her sucking on something only to find that she had discovered her tiny little thumb and was sucking on it!!!! It was adorable. She hasn't found it since, but it was priceless. This morning we think she smiled for the first time while we were talking to her when she first woke up. I hope we can catch it on camera.
A's parents get back from Hawaii tomorrow for a few more days of fun with Mary in the big city. We are excited for them to return and to help celebrate A's 29th birthday on Jan 9th!
We're lucky to have Mary's grandparents, Susie & Grant Grayson, here for New Years. The weather has been wonderful and we've had a blast. Mary said she's going to call Susie & Grant "Gram "& "Poppy".
