Back in good ol' Virginia, Mary got right back into her habit of reading with Gram. She'd trot up to Susie at any old time with her choice of books in hand and ask to come up for a story. These days Mary calls Susie "Nam" because she can't quite get the "G" sound down. But, we keep practicing. Mary loves to read before her nap and before bedtime. We've been going to the library every Monday morning for story time at 10am. A whole load of kids and their parents show up for Sarah, a sweet lady who comes to read to the kids, sing songs and do a puppet show. Mary is entralled, so much so, that she just sits on my lap up front with eyes wide....just soaking it all in. Towards the end of class today she got brave and stood in front of me to join in with the bigger kids as they all danced. As class ends all the kids go up and give Sarah a big hug. Today I asked Mary if she wanted to give her a hug. She looked a little scared at first, but being a brave tiny she took off in stride and walked right up to Sarah and reached out for a hug. It was a proud moment. She turned around and ran back to me, obviously happy for her accomplishment.
